03.16.2020 - Tonight's our Last Market for a While.
/We're Open Tonight.
Well, we made it to Monday, and the market is open tonight, with multiple measures aimed at protecting everyone's safety. With things developing as quickly as they are, it's with heavy hearts that we share that this will likely be our last market for a while. As a farmers market, we serve the roles of grocery store, a pop-up cafe, an accelerator for small business, a support system for local purveyors, and proudly, a gathering for community. It's the gathering part that's making this tough.
With that news, we're using this opportunity to to get some fresh produce and provisions to help get us through this time of social distancing. We're asking that you'll join us in foregoing the "gathering part" (usually one of our favorite parts), and treat the market as a grocery store and takeout counter. Below are some key details about tonight's market.
We have adjusted the layout to put more space in the aisles and more space between vendors.
We are asking to limit one customer per booth at a time.
We will not have any communal tables or high-tops for dining on site. We ask that you purchase hot foods as takeout.
Disposable gloves will be provided to vendors (and as an option for shoppers).
A hand washing station will be available out in the market.
Vendors have been advised of precautionary measures, including frequent hand washing, cleaning of hard surfaces, and safe handling of food.
Please check with vendors about options for ordering for pickup or delivery. Many of them already have those services in place, and others are working on making them available. We will also be sharing that information online.
In a bit of a twist of irony, we are welcoming a new vendor to the market family tonight. Winter Park Urban Farm will be joining us tonight with freshly-harvested produce that has only been handled by one person, Farmer Mason. While we hate that this is the way he's getting started with us, we're grateful for the boost of healthy veggies at a time like this. Please give him a warm welcome (but from a safe distance).
Thank you for continuing to support our community of incredible purveyors.
With Gratitude,
Gabby Lothrop
Market Director
