Happy Monday!  We're going to be out there tonight, rain or shine with lots of local goodies to share.  Be sure to welcome back out friends from Manna International Street Food!  They're back from their journey to Uganda and we can't wait for their delicious food!  We're also welcoming back Hinckley's Fancy Meats, back from a research trip to Italy.  We're sure there'll be some fun new options coming to market.  And, if you're ready to stock up on handmade soaps, Heart Song Naturals has returned from a brief hiatus.  It's a Monday for reunions!

We also want to give a shout out to our friends at Fleet Farming for charging on and growing into the summer months.  We are still so impressed with the freshness and variety they bring to market each week, and we love that everything is grown right here in Orlando.  Pay them a visit to grab so hyper-local produce tonight.

We hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Gabby Lothrop
Market Director

We don't want to jinx it, but it looks like it's going to be a rain-free Monday for us.  Of course, that means it's hot out, but we're looking forward to enjoying some sunshine with some of our local favorites.  While the produce selection is changing, it's still delightfully fresh and flavorful.  Look for tomatoes, beans, and hearty greens, along with more tropical fruits coming your way.

It's the first Monday of the month, so the Master Gardeners will be on site to help you with all your gardening and plant care questions.

Hope to see you tonight!
Cheers,

How about this rain? We really hope our farmer friends are benefitting from these hours of rain and that their plants are happy and healthy. That said, we try hard to have as many of our wonderful vendors at market each week, rain or shine.  We're hoping the weather clears up, but regardless, some of our most determined businesses will be on site for market tonight.

Hope to see there!

04.30.18 - At the Market Tonight

30051618_10155175874795899_1437290458872100803_o.jpg

We blinked, and April came to a close! As we finish out another month, we're seeing our growing seasons transition.  You'll start seeing more tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and other warm weather crops, and start seeing less variety in root vegetables, winter greens (such as kale), and broccoli. Watermelon season is just around the corner!

Since Florida summers can be a bit like Winters up north (in terms of the availability of locally-grown produce), now's the time to start preserving and storing the season's bounty. One of the easiest ways to do that is by freezing goods. I find blueberries to be the easiest seasonal crop to store - just rinse, dry, and throw into a freezer safe container to enjoy in smoothies, pies, syrups, ice creams, sorbets and more for months.  I also like to blanche and freeze greens such as Kale and Collards for soups, stir fries, and sauces.  A little planning can go a long way when I'm longing for this season's flavors at the height of summer.

We'd like to welcome back Eugenio Rojas, whom you've likely met at the Kashaya Yogurt booth!  He's rejoining the market tonight with his massage business, Massage with Genie.  He's a graduate of East West College of Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon, and is ready to share his skills with chair massage at the market.  He'll also be able to help you pre-order that wonderful Kashaya Biotic Yogurt.  Be sure to welcome him back when you come out tonight!

Hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Gabby Lothrop

Happy Monday! It's another wonderful peak-produce-season day here in Audubon Park, and the market is the best place to stock up on a variety of those peak season goods tonight.  Last week, we were thrilled to welcome A Patch of Blue with their freshly-picked, ripe, sustainably-grown strawberries.  The season won't last much longer, so now is the time to stock up.  They make a great complement to the amazing produce and goods our market has to offer.

We'd also like to welcome the Full Sail film crew working on the Locally Fresh documentary, which will be screened at the Florida Film Festival later this season.  It's shaping up to be another wonderful night at the market.

Hope to see you at the market tonight!

Cheers,

Gabby Lothrop
Market Director
