08.03.2020 - At the Market Tonight
/Happy Monday! It's a new month, and we are happy to have been spared by Tropical Storm Isaias. We're getting used to responding to major disruptions around here, but it's nice not to have to worry about a major storm for now. It means we get to keep charging on, doing our best to keep our little market buzzing.
Just in time for this new month, and for National Farmers Market Week, we are thrilled to welcome Slow Turtle Farm back to the market. Those of you who have been shopping with us for years will remember Carol and her incredible goat cheeses. We were always overjoyed during kidding season, when Carol would bring baby goats to see us during the market. A little over two years ago, Carol took a step back from markets to engage in the arduous process of becoming a USDA Grade A Dairy, which will allow her to do more with the products coming from her farm. It's an incredibly overwhelming process, and is especially hard for small, independent farmstead dairies like Slow Turtle Farm. After all this time of major sacrifices, piles of challenges, inspections, and more, Slow Turtle Farm is now certified and returning to markets. We hope you'll join us in welcoming her back to the market family.
We also received the news this week that Fresh Access Bucks is expanding their unlimited matching program for SNAP/EBT and P-EBT shoppers. Thanks to this program, we will now be able to provide unlimited matching through the end of this year. Stop by the market HQ booth for more details!
As a weekly reminder in these pandemic times, we will continue to provide hand-washing facilities and will maintain a setup that allows for plenty of space between vendor booths. We have masks and gloves on hand for anyone who needs them - just stop by the HQ booth and ask. Please continue to limit to one party per booth at a time, and maintain a safe distance from your fellow shoppers.
We hope to see you at the market.
With Gratitude,
Gabby Lothrop
Market Director
